I uploaded a new feature on my Hawk Dancer web site for Get Published. There are currently 4 pages or parts on what to consider and look for if you want to get published. A fifth page is due up soon. The four parts deal with good writing style, character development, about different kinds of publishers and much more.

If you have comments or advice you'd like to include, let me know. Also, let me know if there are things you'd like me to cover concerning getting published.

A 3rd Book?

A third book is in the makings, and even a fourth book. Book three, yet to be titled, is a collection of my poems and short stories. Most of them deal with the Northern Great Lakes region just as the two novels did.

The idea for the fourth book is illustrator Kathy Johnson's idea. Uncle, her and I had dinner at the Time Out Cafe in Washburn, Wisconsin a couple summers back and she said she would like me to write a series of short stories giving more back ground on the characters of my two novels. Specifically she wanted to know more about Flo Thompson/Phelan, the mother of Dean, and she named others.

So here's your chance, readers: Let me know who you would like to know more about. Ask me some questions about Trudy, Jacob, Randy, and the others and I'll see what I can come up with for you and publish in the 4th book.

Video Synopsis

Fr. Jeffery Mickler, SSP launched a web site for bloggers called "St. Paul's tube." You can blog, post video (just like You tube, but this is St Paul's tube) and audio. A video synopsis on the two novels is posted on St. Paul's Tube called "Birch Clump Novels."

New Search Engine

Visitors to my two main web sites, Hawk Dancer and Congregation of St. James can use a new Google Search Engine I installed on the Home Page, the research & resource page and a few other select pages. The default setting searches the majority of my pages containing items related to Inculturation and to Church and Native ministry issues.

Wich Craft -or- Witch Craft? A western Church teacher asked if Natives still practiced witch craft. Humm -- I thought that was a European Craft, not Indigenous to the Americas. So I ask the question in reverse, as would be culturaly correct: do your Priests still practice Witch Craft

Quantum Counter A Priest from Indian comes to the USA and he tells a Native American that the Native does not have enough quantums in his blood to be related to his family anymore. I guess that's like asking what body part is Native and what body part is European?

Assimilated? Lots of folks say Native have assimilated and there is no need to keep Reservations or Government or Church organizations open for Natives. HELLO?

Does Kimosabe realy mean "Horse's Ass?" A senior member of a monastery told a junior member, "You cannot be Indian and White, Native and Catholic. It is like riding two horses." So -- is the Reverened Senior Monk suggesting his junior Monk's parents are horses?

Vansihing Breed? A seminarian from Mexico recently informed me that there are no Native Americans in northern Mexico. He said all the Indians have vanished from the north. So, is that what the Church teaches down there?

We are all related Q. - The MC at a powwow talked about his last cousin. What do Indians mean by last cousin? A - 'Not sure. Maybe its the opposit of a first cousin?

Crow's long house Q: Do any of your people live in wigwams? A: 'Don't think so. Say, do any of your people still live in covered wagons?

Spanish? Why not my language? Sorry, I have a Spanish family name, but I don't speak spanish.I am Apache. Spanish conquerors gave us our names. Wish I could speak Spanish. Have you thought of learning any Native languages?

Clothing and Bible Some one woke me up to ask how Native People knew to wear clothes before the Bible came to America. Eh! Some one needs a hobby.

Notre Dame & USCCB strikes out Catholic officials released a DVD called "Strangers No Longer." The otherwise excellent program on immigration issues ignorantly claims that Native Americans are also to be concidered as immigrants.Iiiiyyyyiii !
